Dawntide — Support

Dawntide is a quiet companion for daily devotional practice from the Bahá'í Writings: a morning and evening reading, a prayer, the Badí' calendar with Holy Days and the Fast, a library of the Writings, and a private journal. It is free, works offline, and has no account.

Common questions

Does it need the internet? No. The daily readings, the library and the shrine photographs are bundled. Only the Calendar's month artwork and course cards are loaded from the web.

Why does it ask for my location? Only if you turn it on in Settings or open the Qiblih compass. It is used on your device to compute sunrise and sunset for the Fast and the Bahá'í day, and the direction of the Qiblih. Dawntide works fully without it.

Where is my journal stored? On your device only. You can lock it with Face ID or your passcode from the ··· menu on the Journal tab, and export all entries as text.

The dates for the Twin Holy Birthdays move each year. Yes. They are the two days after the eighth new moon following Naw-Rúz, reckoned at Ṭihrán, as set by the Universal House of Justice. Dawntide computes them astronomically.

Reminders are local notifications at the times you choose in Settings. Holy Day and Feast notices can be turned off there too.
