Dawntide is a quiet companion for daily devotional practice from the Bahá'í Writings. It is built to respect your privacy completely.
Dawntide collects no personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.Everything you do in Dawntide is stored locally on your device and never leaves it. This includes:
This information is held in the app's own on-device storage (and a shared app-group container used by the home-screen widget). We cannot see it, and it is not transmitted anywhere. Deleting the app removes it.
If you turn on morning and evening reminders, Dawntide schedules them as local notifications on your device. Nothing about your schedule or usage is sent to us or anyone else.
The daily quote, passage, prayer, the full library of texts and the shrine photographs are bundled in the app, so the core experience works fully offline. Two optional surfaces load photographs from a third-party service when you open them:
When you open those screens, your device requests the image directly from Unsplash. As with any internet request, Unsplash may record standard technical information (such as your IP address) under its own privacy policy. Dawntide sends it no personal information about you.
If you choose “Use my location” in Settings, or open the Qiblih compass, Dawntide asks for While-Using location permission. Your coordinate is used only on your device to compute sunrise and sunset (for the Fast and the Bahá'í day's sunset rollover) and the direction of the Qiblih. To label the location with a city name, the coordinate is sent once to Apple's geocoding service, which is covered by Apple's privacy policy. The coordinate and city name are stored on your device and can be cleared at any time with “Stop using my location”. Dawntide works fully without location.
We do not sell, rent, or share any data, because we do not collect any.
Dawntide is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal data, it collects none from children either.
